Position Summary:

As the Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) Technician, you will be responsible for reviewing DAS/In-Building RF designs, iBwave files and blueprints, and defining the network architecture. You will lead a crew of Installers and manage the installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning of in-building DAS systems for Public Safety and Cellular projects, ensuring work is performed in accordance with the highest quality standards. position details/responsibilities…

  • Read and interpret design drawings, blueprints, and installation guides.
  • Install and secures cables, mount hardware as described in drawings and notes.
  • Place, cut, prepare, terminate and secure copper coaxial and optical fiber to their respective connectors, affix splitters based on designs.
  • Terminate, test, and troubleshoot cables and antennas.
  • Update customer prints, documentation, and facilitate document storage.
  • Accurately report status, material usage, and expenses.

  • At least 3-5+ years of related work experience with in-building DAS systems for Public Safety and Cellular solutions.
  • Knowledge of OUC (office of unified communications) requirements and standards of installation (DC metro specific requirement).
  • Installation experience with at least one of the following OEM systems: JMA Wireless, Westell, Commscope (Andrew), Corning (MobileAccess), ADRF, GST, or Solid in-building.
  • Competency / hands-on experience in utilizing Antrisu for signal propagation and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with wireless technologies CDMA, EVDO, GSM, CDMA, UMTS, W-CDMA, 5G, and LTE.
  • Knowledge of passive repeater-based equipment is preferred, General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) is a plus.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Project, Visio, Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Definitions

Pulling: pulling is defined as routing cable through conduit, above ceilings, through & inside of walls, and between & through floors as per project specifications.

Cable Installation (CI): cable installation is the building of pathway, pulling, placement, terminating, testing, and labeling of various cables that include, but are not limited to: Twisted Pair, Coax, Category 5, Category 6.

Rack & Stack (R&S): rack and stack is the staging, unboxing, mounting/installation, connecting, and powering up to bring electronic components and/or devices online and into functional production through working with technical personnel.

The ideal candidate must possess the following:

  • IDF/MDF, rack installation experience a plus.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Passive DAS System Design and Integration
  • CI (Cable Installation) of structured cabling infrastructure in residential and commercial environments.
  • Route cable through conduit, above ceilings, and between floors as per project specifications.
  • Complete projects within budget, on time, and in a safe manner.
  • Pulling, terminating, and testing of fiber optic, coax, and datacom cables
  • Dressing/labeling of cables
  • Attend multiple company hosted, manufacturer training on various devices/techniques.
  • Willingness to obtain additional certifications (company sponsored).
  • Installation of cabling support structures (cable tray, J-hooks, ladder rack, etc.)
  • Maintain the company’s high standard of quality and professionalism with regards to workmanship, customer relations, team members, behavior and appearance.
  • R&S (Rack and Stack) of network equipment and/or devices in a commercial environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Hourly wage ranging from $16.00-$30.00/hr dependent on skills and experience.

Job Requirements:

  • 5+ years of RF and/or low voltage installation experience in commercial cabling.
  • Knowledge of Cellular Booster and Passive Distributed Antenna Systems.
  • Possess cabling hand tools (tool pouch, snips, screwdrivers, punch-down tool, crimper, etc.)
  • Familiarity with BICSI, EIA, TIA or NEC Standards.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check and to provide two professional references.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver license.

Job Description

We’re searching for a highly-skilled project manager to contribute to Mercury Communication’s growth and help us maintain our position as an industry leader as a premier Technology Integrator. The ideal candidate will have proven production experience as well as strong work plan development and progress oversight skills. He/She will be expected to prepare and present progress updates to the Executive Team on a regular basis, ensuring the excellent we seek is being delivered.  

Objectives of this Role

  • Build and develop the In-Building Cellular and Low Voltage team to ensure maximum performance, providing purpose, direction, and motivation
  • Lead projects from requirements definition through deployment, identifying schedules, scopes, budget estimations, and project implementation plans, including risk mitigation
  • To coordinate internal and external resources, ensuring projects remain within scope, schedule, and defined budgets, in collaboration with project staff from various functional departments
  • Review Project Build of Materials, negotiate prices with vendors, and coordinate delivery and storage.
  • Ensure equipment and project timeline is reviewed with In-Building Cellular and Low Voltage Teams.
  • Analyze project progress and, when necessary, adapt scope, timelines, and costs to ensure that project team adheres to project requirements
  • Establish and maintain relationships with appropriate client stakeholders, providing day-to-day contact on project status and changes
 

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain processes to manage scope over the project lifecycle, setting project quality and performance standards, and assessing and managing risk within, and across, multiple projects
  • Structure and manage integrated, multi-track project performance databases for Government and Commercial projects, with an eye on overall progress
  • Assign and schedule integration team based on project, skillset, and timeline.
  • Coordinate team deployment and travel with Office Manager to ensure team is well prepared for project kickoff
  • Coordinate with RF Systems Supervisor in regards to team inventory, tools, and test equipment.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with outside resources—including customers, third-party vendors, and researchers
  • Monitor and assign resources appropriately to streamline project efficiency and maximize deliverable outputs
  • Report project outcomes and/or risks to the appropriate management channels as needed—escalating issues as necessary based on project work plans
 

Skills and Qualifications

  • 2+ years project management experience
  • Hands-on experience with RF/Cellular technologies and project milestones for maximum usability
  • Proven success working with all levels of management
  • Familiar with Microsoft Project or other Project Management Software
  • Can create and review Gantt Charts
  • Must be able to obtain Government Clearance
  • Clean driving record
  • Must be able to pass regular drug tests
  • Must be able to travel within the United States (25%)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification—including CAPM/PMP/PRINCE II
